These terms are an agreement between you and Andrew Pyne ("we", "us"), the individual who makes the Liah app. By downloading or using Liah you accept them. If you don't accept them, don't use the app.
Liah is a personal screen-time app. You choose which of your own apps to hold back, you schedule study material for yourself, and you earn free time on your phone by completing it. One person installs it for their own device. There is no parent and no child, and Liah never controls or monitors anyone else's device.
Liah is an independent app. It is not made, endorsed, sponsored, reviewed or approved by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or any of its affiliated entities.
Liah links to scripture, General Conference talks, Come Follow Me and other material published by the Church, which you read in the Gospel Library app or on the Church's own website. That material belongs to its owners, not to us. We don't host it, sell it, or claim any right in it, and nothing you pay us is payment for it.
You need an account to use Liah, so that your progress survives a new phone and so friends can find you. You must give accurate information, keep your sign-in secure, and you are responsible for what happens under your account.
You must be at least 13 to use Liah. If you are under 18, you may only use it with the consent of a parent or guardian.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Safety & Support. Deleting removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy and releases your username back into use.
New accounts get every paid feature free for 14 days from the day you sign in. You are not asked for payment details and nothing is charged. When the 14 days end you choose: pay for a subscription, or carry on with the free version of Liah, which stays free permanently and includes daily study, earning free time, friends, messages and your reflections.

Prices are in US dollars and may differ in other countries. Payment is taken by Apple through your App Store account, not by us.
Subscriptions renew automatically. Your account is charged for another period within 24 hours of the current one ending, at the price then in effect, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not shorten or refund the period you are already in.
To cancel, open the Settings app on your device, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and turn off renewal for Liah. You can also do this from the App Store. We cannot cancel a subscription for you, because we never hold the billing relationship.
Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store Terms of Service. We have no ability to issue one. If you think you are owed a refund, request it through Apple.
If we change the price, Apple will tell you and ask you to agree before the new price is charged. If you don't agree, your subscription simply ends at the close of the current period.

Your reflections and your messages are yours. We claim no ownership of them.
You give us only the permission we need to run the app: to store your writing, back it up to your account, and deliver anything you choose to send to the people you send it to. That's the whole licence. We don't publish your writing, sell it, or use it to train anything.
When you send something to a friend, they keep their copy. Deleting your account removes your copy of a conversation and anything you sent that they haven't already received — it cannot reach into someone else's phone and unsend what they already have.
Liah has friends and messaging in it, so there are rules. Don't use Liah to harass, threaten, impersonate or abuse anyone. Don't send anything unlawful, sexually explicit, or designed to frighten people. Don't try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the app or its servers, don't use it to get around someone else's device restrictions, and don't use it for anything illegal.
You can report a message and block a person from inside the app. We read reports and we may remove content, suspend an account, or close one permanently. We would rather tell you why, and usually will, but we can act first where someone's safety is involved.
Liah is provided as it is. We work hard on it and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will block what you asked it to block on every occasion. Study content is fetched from third parties and may be unavailable or change without notice.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for anything arising from Liah failing to restrict an app, failing to deliver a message, or losing data. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here removes rights you have under the consumer law of the country you live in.
You can stop using Liah and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we stop operating the app — in which case we will give as much notice as we reasonably can, and you will not be charged for a period you cannot use.
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Carrying on using Liah after that means you accept the new version. The date at the top always says when this page last changed.
These clauses are required because Liah is distributed through the App Store.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Utah, except where the law of your home country gives you the right to bring proceedings there.
